About
leslie sanders, psy.d.
I recently completed a doctorate in the Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University. My focus and dissertation centered around forensics and family law issues, culminating in my study: A Qualitative Investigation of Child Custody Evaluators. Originally from the east coast, I graduated from Northeastern University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2002.
During my graduate program I have had multiple supervised clinical experiences. I completed a clinical practicum at the Center for Autism Research, Evaluation, and Service (CARES) providing behavioral therapy to children with Autism spectrum disorders as well as supporting their families. In my first clinical internship I provided group and individual therapy to inpatients and outpatients at Bayview Hospital. At Bayview Hospital I was also responsible for conducting psychological evaluations and worked closely with supervisors, psychiatrists, and hospital staff as the Lead Testing Intern.
Additionally, I have work experience in the mental health field dating back to 2000. My passion for psychology began working at The Italian Home for Children, a residential treatment program for children with severe emotional problems. I also gained invaluable experience through positions at The Brookline Center, with seriously mentally ill adults, and New Alternative’s Foster Family Agency, providing support to high-risk adolescents and their foster families. I joined the forensic consulting team at the Institute of Violence, Abuse, and Trauma (IVAT), under the supervision of Dr. Geffner, from 2009-2011.
In November of 2010 I transitioned into hospital work as an Assessment Coordinator at Alvarado Parkway Institute. API’s primary goal is to provide quality care and superb customer service. In 2012 I accepted a new position as the Director of Assessment Services taking on additional administrative and supervisory duties.
